TSA #5 – Celebrate Christmas

Dec 22, 2011 by

Or Chunakah… or whatever.  Just celebrate something.

Here’s my whole thoughts on Christmas.

I like Christmas.  I like that we as a people take some time out of the year to celebrate something.  I like that we take time out of our schedule to get together with friends and family with good food and drink.  I like that we buy each other presents.   I’m not a big fan of the over-commercialization of Christmas, but just the idea that “hey, you surprise me with something nice that I’ll like, and I’ll do the same for you” is a great idea.  Now if we can just focus it a little bit more on some nice gifts that are handmade or homemade that would be nice.  But we can work on that…

I like that we have special music that we break out once a year and listen to as we decorate our trees and houses with lights and such.  And eggnog!  Who doesn’t love eggnog?

The idea is to celebrate.  And I don’t really care what you celebrate.  Baby Jesus, 8 days of oil, the flying spaghetti monster, whatever it may be, just put some cheerful music on, make some good food, and celebrate it with family and friends.  Let yourself celebrate the year that has been and to the hope of a new year and new opportunities for awesome new experiences.

Not everyone takes this time of year to celebrate.  Don’t be one of those people.

And if you are not in the mood?  Make yourself get in the mood.  Go spend 20 bucks on a tree and a few bucks for lights.  Decorate that tree while you watch a  great Christmas movie like Miracle on 34th Street or Die Hard and tell me if that isn’t a better feeling than “not in the mood”.

Your Truly Simple Action for this week and all through Christmas is to celebrate as hard as you can and make it the best Christmas you’ve ever had.

I wish you all a truly merry Christmas and I hope you pull out all the stops to make it the best one ever.

Yes that is me in all my 3rd grade glory
